How to verify an online seller before paying
Seller verification is strongest when several independent facts point to the same real business. One screenshot, badge or positive review is never enough on its own.

Match the seller across channels
Compare the seller name, website, phone number, email and payment recipient. A payment account belonging to an unrelated person is a reason to pause and ask for clarification.
Check product evidence
Reverse-search product photos when possible and ask for current, specific photos for high-value items. Reused images may indicate dropshipping, counterfeits or a listing copied from another seller.
Evaluate reviews carefully
Look beyond the star average. Check dates, detail, language patterns and how the business handles complaints. Reviews hosted only by the seller are weaker evidence than independent sources.
Compare the price with the market
An unusually low price can be a lure. Compare the same model, condition, shipping cost, warranty and return rights—not only the headline price.
Keep the transaction documented
Use written messages, keep the original listing and save invoices and payment confirmations. Do not move outside a protected marketplace checkout just to receive a discount.
